Later this year, Dock will be launching an ETH bridge and mainnet upgrades on the Dock Blockchain are required to facilitate this while also enhancing security.
The Dock-Ethereum bridge will enable the following:
- Users to easily move Ethereum assets to Dock’s low-cost, highly scalable platform and vice versa and bridge any ERC-20 token to Dock
- Open a new gateway for the enormous number of organizations and DAOs built on Ethereum to issue VCs and DIDs on Dock that will be verifiable on Ethereum
The bridge won’t be possible without the upgrades.
What Do Validators Need to Do?
In order for the upgrade proposal to pass, we require at least ⅔ of validators to approve the new code before it is added to the mainnet in order to avoid consensus issues. If it passes it will take a few days for the upgrade execution to complete.
- View the proposal here and the voting period will be from Feb. 12-27, 2023. The expected block that will execute the proposal is 17259600 and will take place around 4:00 p.m. UTC on March 3, 2023 (within 1 hour accuracy).
- Go here for detailed instructions and scripts to upgrade nodes as soon as possible.
Voting will be democratic and each network participant will be able to vote.
